Kazan University has signed around 200 agreements with foreign partners. Among them are J. Liebig Giessen University, Strasbourg University, Kanazawa University, the Japanese scientific and research institute RIKEN and many others.

In addition, the university cooperates with leading foreign companies, contributing to research and employment of their students.

  • Biomedicine and pharmacology

    As part of KFU's cooperation with leading pharmaceutical companies Novartis, Pfizer and Bayer, students take part in joint research, visit workshops and work as interns.

    KFU's cooperation with Fox Chase Cancer Centre, USA provides research placement for academic staff and postgraduate students at the clinic, which is among the top 20 medical institutions in the field of oncology in the USA according to US News.

  • Oil production, petroleum refining and petrochemistry

    KFU is one of the priority Russian universities for Schlumberger, the world leader in oilfield services. Main areas of cooperation include:

    • Research funding ;
    • Participation of Schlumberger employees in the educational process ;
    • Scholarships for KFU students;
    • Internships and employment opportunities for KFU graduates.
  • Promising materials

    KFU cooperates with one of the leading manufacturers of plastics, Albis Technologies (Switzerland).

    In 2015, KFU will open a joint laboratory of antenna systems and radio wave propagation together with Rohde & Schwarz, Europe's largest company for the production of radio equipment.

  • Infocommunications and space technologies

    As part of the first stage of cooperation with Samsung's research centre (South Korea) during 2014-2016, two projects in the field of image recognition and speech identification technologies and distinction of audio file language will be implemented.

    The Samsung Junior IT & Software School joint project is aimed at training future engineering and technical staff for the Russian IT industry.

    KFU's Microsoft technologies laboratory studies Microsoft technologies of software product development in the sphere of mobile, desktop and web applications and websites.

    As part of the cooperation between KFU and IBM, students specialising in economics complete internships while IBM employees are involved in creating guidance documentation (for accounting and financial accounting, taxes and taxation, audit, IFRS), and hold interactive lessons in problematic issues of today's economy.

    Since 2014, a joint KFU-CISCO innovative centre has been operating in KFU, the second in Russia (the first is in Skolkovo). Plans are to use developments at the Centre to create advanced communications and data transmission systems and intelligent video surveillance systems, to work to expand the Smart City program, and much more.
