Russia announced a non-working week starting Saturday. Higher Education and Science Minister Valery Falkov signed a decree on nationwide university holidays.

Rectors appealed to teachers and students to care for their health and not to forget about distance learning. This time is best for coming to grips with online work which universities have begun to practice recently.

Many universities held awareness talks on the importance of self-isolation and making the most of one’s free time. Head of the People’s Friendship University of Russia Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Pathology Vladimir Medvedev offered his recommendations. Sechenov Moscow First Medical University Rector Petr Glybochko spoke on COVID-19 measures in an interview.

Many students were given homework while final year students got extra time to finalise their degree theses. They can use online education resources, take online courses and communicate with teachers if necessary.
