The university is launching a new English medium programme in space technology.

Far Eastern Federal University School of Digital Technologies is starting the graduate programme “Small Satellite Development for Private Space” in 2019. Students will learn to design spacecraft, satellite orientation/stabilisation systems and avionics software and carry out tests. Practical focus is the main advantage of the programme. Students have to make a miniaturised satellite (cubesat) which will be launched into an Earth orbit after the end of the course. A camera will be installed on board to scan the surface of the Earth. The project is implemented jointly with the Russian satellite producer Sputniks and the Roskosmos space rocket corporation. The programme provides an understanding of modern aerospace equipment, control theory, space communications, programing, optics, mathematics and other engineering fields enabling students to add an important research achievement to their portfolio.

Length of study: two years. Tuition fee: $6,660 a year. Applicants have to prepare a cover letter, English proficiency certificate (IELTS or TOEFL) and a portfolio which includes the applicant’s IT projects (source codes can be uploaded to GitHub or any other service and referenced), a copy of bachelor’s degree, certificate of completion of field-specific courses and other competence-proving materials. The Admissions Board can also request the candidate to take a test in the principal subject. You can submit your application from our website where you can also find programme details and information on entrance examinations. Create a personal account and write to the university designating the programme. FEFU staff will reply to you within ten days.

FEFU set up the School of Digital Technologies in 2018 to train IT specialists. It currently offers seven masters programmes including Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, Technologies of Virtual and Augmented Reality, Cybersecurity of the Internet of Things (in English) etc. The school collaborates with leading IT companies which arrange research practice for students.
