IKBFU medical programme receives international accreditation

At the end of January, the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University's General Medicine programme received international accreditation from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and a page in the World Directory of Medical Schools. Now programme graduates will be eligible to apply for an international license and practice medicine professionally anywhere in the world.

General Medicine is a fundamental training programme for medical personnel in all fields, including general practice and science. In Russia, future doctors study according to the extended speciality programme and read biology, biochemistry, anatomy, histology, physiology, pharmacology, obstetrics and gynaecology, therapy, surgery, paediatrics, neurology, psychiatry and other compulsory subjects for six years. Graduates can go on to work as general practitioners immediately or continue their studies in an internship to become a narrower medical specialist or begin the path to a scientific career.
