Students from 30 countries spoke about their national culture and presented national dishes.

It was the fourth consecutive Day of Nationalities in the University’s emerging tradition. International students from several Russian universities, such as Higher School of Economics, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) and I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (MSMU) joined the festival. It gathered 1,500 people overall.

Nationalities Day started on the square in front of the university as students performed national dances under the flags of their countries. The participants then moved into a hall for a concert featuring international students’ teams from Russian universities. In the hall, various dishes were offered for tasting, from hummus to pilaf and Osetian pies. The students crafted the treat themselvs and shared national recipes.

The festival ended in a tricolour balloon release as a symbol of unity of all Russian universities’ students.  MISiS student body includes some 1,700 young people from 69 countries. The university is placed 7th by the number of international students in QS BRICS rankings.
