FEFU Russian Language and Culture Centre will welcome students from Lebanon, Zimbabwe and Congo for the first time in the new academic year.

2017 intake also includes students from Asia (China, South Korea, North Korea and Japan) and Latin America underscoring foreigners’ increasing interest in the Russian language and culture. Four hundred people have entered FEFU pre-university training department this year. FEFU offers majors for future linguists, engineers, medics and biologists. Another 300 students have enrolled for Russian language courses of varying length.

Learners are divided into groups based on proficiency test results. The language programme was designed to meet FEFU Centre requirements for common and field-specific vocabulary. To foster a lively learning environment, teachers arrange interactive games and contests.

FEFU has been running Russian language courses for international students for 28 years. More than 6,000 non-residents have completed FEFU Russian language training since 1989. Russian courses are in great demand in China and FEFU usually has a high percentage of Chinese students. The university also has students from Europe and North America and has seen an increasing inflow of foreigners from Africa, Latin America and the Middle East over the past two years.
