British and Russian students had an intensive surgery course.

I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University hosted the annual surgery school 2019; the participants included medical students from Oxford University, Cambridge University, King’s College London, Newcastle University and University of Nottingham. This year, the programme added cardiovascular and neurosurgery modules to the traditional course in urology and colorectal surgery. The students had lectures on various types of sutures, use of surgical instruments, modern medical technology, intestinal, cardiovascular, and neurovascular diseases, and learnt to stitch and treat wounds. They also had intensive surgery practice assisting experienced specialists and performing laproscopy on their own. Also, they gained a valuable patient care experience at the Skilfasovsky Emergency Medicine hospital and took part in a workshop on patient-doctor communication skills.

Sechenov University is a Russian higher education centre training skilled specialists in medicine. It provides education in General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Clinical Psychology, Paediatrics etc. English medium programmes are available. The average tuition fee is 520,000 rubles ($8,000) a year.
