The results of research conducted by the British company QS are announced.

Experts assessed 150 universities from 20 countries of the developing Europe and Central Asia. A specially developed methodology was used for ranking, which takes into account nine most important parameters. Among them: academic reputation of a university, percentage of international students, demand for graduates among employers and others.

Summarizing the results of 2015, four Russian universities are in the TOP-10. The ranking leader is MSU n.a. M.V. Lomonosov, NSU was the second one, SPbSU was the third one, MIPT took the tenth position. In total, 48 Russian universities have participated in the ranking, 15 were in the TOP-100, of which 7 are the participants of Project 5-100.

MSU and NSU demonstrate high results for the second year in a row. In 2014, these universities also took first and second positions respectively, but previously, Novosibirsk University shared its position with the Charles University in Prague. SPbSU has improved the result – it has moved from the seventh position to the fifth. But the greatest breakthrough was made by MIPT – the university has moved up twelve positions and entered the top ten. Alexander Povalko, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, called the breakthrough of MIPT an impressive example of how a highly specialized university has beaten many famous universities.

“Our country is the absolute leader by the total number of universities participating in the ranking – about a third of 150 universities represent Russia,” the minister said.
