Many Tajik Nationals choose Russia as a study abroad destination due to a large choice of universities and professions. They are also attracted by affordable education, accommodation and food costs. In the academic year 2016/2017, Russia was providing training to 12,000 Tajik students; a year later their number grew to 14,300. Medicine, information technologies and metallurgy are the most popular fields of study with Tajik nationals.
