Russian Schoolchildren Have Got Silver at the Olympics in Informatics

One of the main organizers of this event was the Kazan Federal University.

International Olympiad in Informatics IOI is one of the most prestigious intellectual competitions among schoolchildren. It has been holding since 1989 under the authority of UNESCO.

This year's event took place from 12th to 18th of August 2016 in Kazan. Russian team was second by the total score. Russia was represented by pupils from different cities of our country: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan. First place went to the Chinese team, and the third took the young programmers from Iran.

In total, there were 314 schoolchildren from 81 countries. They all lived in a modern campus of KFU called the Universiade Village. In free time the participants of the competition walked, got acquainted with Kazan and the surroundings, went on excursions. They visited the city of high technologies Innopolis, the island-town Sviyazhsk, the dinosaurs park. Everywhere they were accompanied by volunteers from the KFU.
