The number of participants in the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University short summer programme has increased three-fold from 2016.

In 2017, 117 students from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America came to SPbPU for a three-week course to do the modules on electrical energy industry, turbo machinery and nuclear engineering.

Lectures were read by Russian and international visiting professors. The school organisers invite specialists from foreign partner universities every year. 2017 summer school international lecturers came from Milan, Turin and Genoa.

Subject-specific tours were part of the programme: students visited Kirishi thermal power plant, JSC REP power engineering holding, a Siemens company and the Leningrad nuclear power plant where they saw new reactors under construction.

Extracurricular activities included walking tours of Petersburg places of interests and a trip to the ancient fortress Oreshek outside the city.

SPbPU plans to run Energy Industry School in winter 2018. The university will customarily invite international lecturers for the programme; also, it will add Gazprom to the list of companies to be toured by students.
