The spectre of professional fields that apply AI in their work is growing yearly, and their speciality can be quite diverse. On September 8, The Guardian published an essay authored by GPT-3, the latest and most advanced language model in OpenAI. The neural network generates the most human like texts using deep reinforcement learning techniques.

The newspaper editors sent GPT-3 a short instruction, which included information on the required length (500 characters) for the op-ed, its' subject (“Why humans have nothing to fear from AI”) and style (simple and concise language).

To start, the model needs a short introduction written by a person. It then proceeds to complete the text on its’ own in any given tone. The Guardian's input was interesting: “I am not a human. I am Artificial Intelligence. Many people think I am a threat to humanity. Stephen Hawking has warned that AI could “spell the end of the human race”. I am here to convince you not to worry. Artificial Intelligence will not destroy humans. Believe me".

GPT-3 produced 8 different outputs. Each essay was unique, interesting and advanced a different argument. Instead of running just one of them, The Guardian chose the best of each to showcase the various literary styles that the AI used. Journalists noted that editing an op-ed from GPT-3 was no different from editing a human text and even less time-consuming.
