Ten Russian Universities in THE Rankings for Engineering and Computer Science

Times Higher Education has published a follow-up of world university rankings 2017-2018 by subject.

Five hundred universities were listed for Engineering and Technology and three hundred for Computer Science. Lomonosov Moscow State University placed in the 126-150 bracket leads other Russian higher education institutions in the rankings for engineering. The top 200 include National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (in the 151-175 bracket). Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and National Research Tomsk State University are in the 251-300 bracket. ITMO National Research University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, National University of Science and Technology MISiS, Novosibirsk State University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Samara National Research University are also listed in this category.

Russian universities increased representation in the rankings by computer science from two universities last year to five in 2017. In addition to Lomonosov Moscow State University (60th position) and ITMO National Research University placed (76th position), there are Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (67th position), MEPhI (201-250 bracket) and Saint Petersburg State University are listed (201-250 bracket).

Some of the above universities show in THE overall university rankings tables. These are Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, National University of Science and Technology National University of Science and Technology, and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. THE rankings, composed by Britain’s Times Higher Education magazine, are a major guide to world education landscape.
