This year, RAEX, the largest rating agency in Russia, published its' first subject ranking of Russian universities.

Educational institutions were assessed by 10 subjects: mathematics, information technology, physics and astronomy, mechanical engineering and robotics, construction and architecture, engineering and technology, economics and management, humanities, medicine and health, and agriculture.

The winner in terms of both ranking and the number of subjects is Moscow State University. Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg University, Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin, Novosibirsk State University and the National Research Tomsk State University are leading in subjects covered. These universities took notable positions in 6-8 lists out of 10.

As expected, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University won in Medicine and Health Care. The National Research University Higher School of Economics took first place in the ranking of Economics and Management and entered the top 5 in lists Mathematics, Information Technology and Humanities.

Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology has also rated highly: the second place in Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, Information Technologies lists and the third place in Engineering and Technologies subject. Another leader in these areas is the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.

ITMO University took second place in Mechanical Engineering and Robotics. It is followed by the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, MEPhI and SPbPU.

The top 5 universities in the areas of Agriculture, Construction and Architecture and Physics and Astronomy include the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, SPbPU and NSU, respectively
