Thirteen Russian Universities in Three University Missions Ranking Debut Release

The Russian Union of Rectors unveiled its first ever ranking of universities.

It lists 200 higher education institutions across the world. The top 100 includes Lomonosov Moscow State University placed 25th, Saint Petersburg State University (72nd) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (73rd). Higher School of Economics was ranked 107th, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI 131st and Novosibirsk State University 132nd. They were followed by National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (136th), Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (173rd), National Research Tomsk State University (176th), Moscow State Institute of International Relations (192nd), Kazan Federal University (194th), Ural Federal University (195th) and Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (197th).

The new ranking assesses universities on three basic tracks: teaching excellence, research activity and interaction with the society. Overall 17 parameters are considered, including percentage of international Olympiad winners, quality of scientific publications, university's contribution to affordable online education etc.
