University of Tyumen Admits Prospective Students from 12 Countries

The most popular fields of study are computer science, ecology, physics and biology.

The university admitted 338 foreigners in academic year 2017/18. They are all full-time students taking undergraduate, specialist, graduate and postgraduate programmes or Preparatory Department courses. A majority of new entrants come from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. UT also has students from other CIS states such as Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. Several students from Congo, Indonesia, China and Palestine were admitted to undergraduate programmes at UT Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Information Technology was the most sought-after major with international prospective students; UT Institute of Mathematics and Computer Sciences admitted 64 people in 2017. Fifty-nine UT international students study geography and ecology, 37 do physics and engineering at Institute of Physics and Technology and 32 foreigners take Institute of Biology programmes.

Some international students have signed study contracts with UT, others have won Russian government scholarships or UT postgraduate grants Talent ++.  Overall UT has 2,200 international students from 37 countries including CIS states, China, Vietnam, Brazil, Egypt, Zimbabwe, France and Spain.
