Ural Federal University has held a Winter School for foreign students
On January 31, at Ural Federal University (UrFU) opened the Winter School 2022, "Soviet Heritage in Modern Russia". For two weeks, participants fr om Switzerland, Denmark, and Germany had the chance to experience the real Russian winter and life in Yekaterinburg, as well as to attend lectures, seminars and workshops with UrFU’s top professors on the USSR and its impact on the Russian identity.
During the first week, the group visited the USSR Museum, and learned more about the real life of a Soviet citizen. In Yekaterinburg, they had a tour of the places related to the past and the present of Russia’s industrial capital. The city's Opera also became one of the stops and let the guests enjoy the atmosphere of Russian ballet.
During the second week, the participants explored Soviet architecture, and the social history of the USSR. They visited the most famous examples of Soviet Avant-garde in Yekaterinburg: the Chekists Village, Uralmash and the White Tower.
On February 12 and 13, the closing ceremony took place, wh ere the School participants received their certificates. They were grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Winter School 2022, and to learn more about Russian culture and real Russia.
