Tomsk Polytechnic University was the first engineering school in Russia's Siberia and the Far East to open doors in 1896. Today, TPU has the status of a national research university and is among the best world university by the QS World University Rankings and is in the top-10 of technical universities in Russia.

TPU today is about 12300 students, 28% of them are international. The university offers over 60 areas of bachelor, master, and specialist degree programs. There are 7 Double Degree programs, 12 network programs with universities in the UK, Germany, Czech Republic, and Kazakhstan. Academic mobility programs link TPU with 90 universities in 30 countries.
