Best Russian Universities for Engineering, Natural Sciences
RUR Ranking Agency presented two international rankings by subject.
National Research Nuclear University MEPhI leads the Russian league in the field of natural sciences at 42nd place, followed by Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (45th), National Research Tomsk State University (151st), Moscow State University (154th) and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (177th).
The best Russian universities for engineering sciences were ranked as follows: ITMO University (92nd), Lomonosov Moscow State University (115th), National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (137th) and National Research Tomsk State University (168th).
RUR rankings are released by a Russian team which annually surveys some 800 universities across more than 70 countries. The survey is specifically focused on higher education centres which offer engineering and natural sciences programmes.
Russian universities on the RUR list including MEPhI and ITMO University also appear in other rankings by subject. For example, QS ranked MEPhI for five subject areas and put it in the 51-100 group for Physics. ARWU listed ITMO University for seven subject areas; the university is in the 76-100 group for Automation and Control.
