The International Student Project Marathon was launched in 2019 with the Technical University of Graz (Austria) and has become one of the most successful SPbPU projects in cutting edge research. A year later, the Madrid Technical University and the University of Cadiz (Spain) joined the scientific activity and student exchange. In the fall of 2021, the British City and the University of London and the Technical University of Berlin will become part of the marathon. Educational organizations in the Netherlands and Mexico have already announced their interest in the project as well.
Under the guidance of renowned scientists from different countries, undergraduate and graduate students can successfully research in 10 fields, such as electric power, transport, materials science, humanities and others. The 2020 quarantine restrictions did not interfere with the work of international teams and even helped implement new ways for online mobility.
Scientific achievements of university's young scientists are already found implementation in Russia. SPbPU is working on an innovative 3D printer commissioned by the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation.
The university has prepared 400 programmes in more than 30 fields for all international students. The majority chooses specialities in mechanical engineering, materials science, electronics, nuclear energy, nano- and biotechnology.
