Only the most talented students from Asia, Africa and South America were able to pass the final exams.

Eleven students from China, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt and Afghanistan completed the master’s programme Automation and Mechatronics at Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI”. Initially, the group numbered 16 students, but not all of them made it to thesis defence. Master’s students had worked hard gaining knowledge in basic sciences and attending lectures by visiting professors from Finland and USA, publishing their papers in a Scopus indexed journal and taking part in international conferences and summer/winter schools in Mechatronics and Robotics that were also held in other countries such as Germany.

The English-taught master’s programme "Automation and Mechatronics" has been available at LETI since 2016; this year saw the programme’s third graduation class. The foreigners’ interest in the programme is explained by a broad range of competences they get in the sought-after fields including robotics, programming, modelling and prototyping; they can also design state-of-the-art automation and control systems. Of course, these qualifications will help them find a job on the labour market in any country. The most successful graduates can pursue postgraduate studies in Russia or abroad.

LETI applications opened on 29 June; documents can be submitted from home this year. Create a personal account to send your application to the university.
