More than 300 dormitories in Russian universities will have been renovated by the end of 2022

By the end of the year, repair work will have been accomplished in more than 100 Russian universities.

Following the President’s instruction, over 300 dormitories in more than 100 Russian universities will be renovated this year. Construction of world-class campuses continues, too,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko, Russian Deputy Prime Minister.

Dmitry Chernyshenko also reported that in the coming years, new campuses would appear in Tomsk, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod and other cities. Two of them are already under construction. According to the plans, by 2030 at least 25 campuses for 150,000 students are to be built.

Valery Falkov, the head of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, added that up-to-date educational environment must meet the high standards of convenience for both educational and extracurricular activities of staff and students.

Universities must give knowledge, but also provide good accommodation to students, encourage their development and a healthy lifestyle. This year, repair work will cover 650 thousand square meters of university premises, and by 2024 at least 1.6 million square meters of residential space, as well as educational, social and sports facilities, will have been renovated. This will improve conditions for 80,000 students,” emphasized Valery Falkov.

Last year, 254 dormitories in 94 universities were renovated. The total area of repair work made around 530 thousand square meters. Roofs, facades, engineering systems were renovated, redecoration was also done.
