In the fall of 2020, Russian universities launched several large-scale projects dedicated to the cultural and educational connections between Russia and the countries of Africa and the Middle East.

On November 11-12, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University will host the Russia - Africa: Politics, Economics, History and Culture, International Scientific Forum. Representatives of Russia, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and France will discuss the possibilities for developing international relations and cooperation.

The November 11 conference programme includes more than 70 speakers – ambassadors and officials from different countries, leading scientists from universities and other experts. A round table on the Cooperation between Russia and African countries will conclude the day. The IV Student Olympiad in the Arabic language and Islamic culture will take on the second day of the forum. You can access the majority of the conference events online via Zoom meetings.

Opening Leading Russian Universities is another online project supported by the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Lebanese Republic. Unable to hold the Middle East Exhibition of Russian Universities in 2020, the RCSC in Beirut has launched a series of video meetings with universities. Participants can watch videos with detailed information about three leading educational institutions: Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, KFU and Tyumen State University. In the future, the collection of videos will be expanded to include other Russian universities.

Meantime, the Ural Federal University celebrated the anniversary of the League of Arab States. The Ural Association of Young Middle Easterners acted as an organizer and modelled the work of an international round table. During the experiment, the participants discussed such topics as security, resolution of the current crisis and the future development of the region.

Peoples' Friendship University of Russia has presented several projects as well. Together with the flagship universities of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, the university has held events for applicants from Tanzania. And earlier this year, RUDN University signed an agreement to establish the Interuniversity Center for Islamic Education for the development and implementation of double degree programmes with foreign universities.

Russian education is highly popular with Africa and the Middle East. The 2020 admission campaign results and testimonials of international students confirm this. You can apply to one of the universities on our website and start your path to a prestigious career now.
