U.S. News Best Global Universities - 2020

17 Russian universities were selected among 1500 leading educational institutions according to the USN & WR Best Global Universities Rankings (U.S. News).

Seven universities got the top 100 rankings. The three leaders include Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and NRNU MEPhI. Novosibirsk State University, St. Petersburg State University, NRU "Higher School of Economics", St. Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great, ITMO University and TSU were also highly rated.

For the first time, the Far Eastern Federal University and the Sechenov University became part of the list. First Moscow State Med became the only Russian university represented in the Clinical Medicine field. TPU, KFU, MISiS, UrFU, Tyumen State University and RUDN University also entered the ranking.

The main criteria the U.S. News uses for evaluation is the academic research performance of the universities confirmed by publications and a reputation in the global and regional academic communities. Russian universities are represented in 18 subject fields, including Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering Sciences.
