Britain’s Quacquarelli Symonds listed the world’s best universities.

The latest edition of prestigious QS World University Rankings highlights 1,000 universities across the world. Russia is represented by 25 higher education centres. Lomonosov Moscow State University tops the Russian league at 84th position. Novosibirsk State University was placed 231st and National Research Tomsk State University 268th. Among the top ten prestigious Russian universities are Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (302nd), Higher School of Economics (322nd), National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (329th) and Ural Federal University (364th). QS also ranked National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Kazan Federal UniversityPeoples’ Friendship University of Russia, ITMO University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Far Eastern Federal University, Lobachevsky University, Samara University and South Ural State University. Many universities improved their positions from 2019. Novosibirsk State University moved up 13 places, National Research Tomsk State University nine places, MPT ten places, HSE 21 places, UrFU 48 places, RUDN University 54 places and ITMO National Research University climbed by more than 70 positions.

QS ranking methodology is based on academic reputation (40%), faculty/student ratio (20%), citations (20%), employer reputation (10%), international staff ratio (5%) and international student ratio (5%).
