Applicants from the CIS Opt for Russia
Higher School of Economics presented report on academic mobility of international students.
Russian universities are popular with students from Asia (56.8% of the whole foreign cohort, almost half of them from China), Middle East and North Africa (18.5%), Sub-Saharan Africa (15.9%) and Europe (5%). Interestingly, FSU students find extramural programs almost as attractive as intramural ones (44% and 54%, respectively), while the lion’s share (98%) of students from other regions go for intramural programs.
52.3% of international students are enrolled in bachelor programmes, 38% – specialist courses, and 9.7% - in master’s. The most popular fields among overseas students include Medicine, Economics, Management, and liberal arts. They are followed by Russian Language, Architecture and Law.
