HSE Admits Over 1,500 Foreign Nationals

The university intake 2018 is closed.

Higher School of Economics has been popular with international prospective students. In 2018, 1,547 foreigners were admitted to undergraduate and graduate programmes; 700 first-years are self-funded students. A majority of entrants hail from CIS states (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Belarus) and Asia (China, Vietnam). Among other regions are Europe (Italy), Latin America (Brazil) and Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Algeria, Tunisia). The top in-demand undergraduate fields of study were management, economics, advertisement, marketing, law, political science, design and applied mathematics and computer science. Three new programmes devoted to the study of Israel, India and Iran also drew students’ interest. In master’s studies, students tended to select management, economics, finance and credit, political science and business informatics.

Higher School of Economics is located in Moscow and has branches in St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm. HSE offers more than 240 undergraduate and graduate programmes. Many programmes are taught in English; double degree programmes are available. International students lead an action-packed campus life. For example HSE has various hobby clubs, focused on cinema and foreign languages to hiking across scenic places in Russia. Entertainment includes wits and humour competitions, standup shows, city quests etc.
