Winners can study at Russian universities.

“Vysshaya Proba” held by Higher School of Economics is one of the most popular and largest Olympiads for schoolchildren in Russia. This year, more than 217,000 prospective students from Russia and other countries registered on the Olympiad website; 110,000 qualified for the finals held at 42 venues across the Russian Federation and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The academic competition participants represented 30 countries including CIS member-states Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Belarus, as well as Mongolia, Vietnam, Bulgaria, the United States, Germany, Italy, China, Japan etc.

Vysshaya Proba covered 25 disciplines; of those 15 were recognised as 1st level Olympiads making the winners eligible to admission to Russian universities without entrance tests.

Also, it enjoys the status of international Olympiad in such disciplines as Russian language, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics. International winners in these disciplines automatically pass the first stage of the competitive government scholarship contest. There were 17 foreign nationals among the Olympiad winners this year.

HSE recently announced the results of the Vysshaya Liga Olymipad for students and university graduates, which had brought together Russian nationals and 228 foreigners from 22 countries.

Non-winners are offered a nice bonus. The schoolchildren who get Vysshaya Proba certificates are entitled to incentives when applying for bachelor’s or specialist programmes at Russian universities, while Vysshaya Liga certificate holders get incentives as HSE master’s programmes applicants.
