Students from 11 countries came to Kaliningrad for a short programme.

The annual Russian language and culture school ended at Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. This year, it brought together 30 students from the USA, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Macedonia and other countries. They studied Russian grammar and worked on pronunciation for a month. Thanks to small group classes, teachers could devote enough time to each student. The programme included seminars devoted to Russian fairy tales, music, cinema and Russian humour. In 2019, the organisers added a new module, “Russian Studies”, which included lectures on Russian economy and law, history, the migration situation in the Baltic region and intercultural communication. All students got summer school certificates.

In their free time, the school participants toured Kaliningrad, visited the Museum of the World Ocean, the Botanical Garden, the Curonian Spit national park, Svetlogorsk, the short film festival Koroche and the Kaliningrad city jazz festival and took part in master classes in making Russian folk dolls and gingerbread.

Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is a modern university offering prospective international students more than 120 programmes of different levels. It provides training in IT, history and archaeology, economics, law, linguistics and medicine. English medium programmes include Innovative Systems of Business Development, General Medicine etc. The Preparatory Department offers training to those who want to study in Russian but lack Russian language proficiency.
