ITMO Trains the Best Programmers

HackerRank has compiled its rating of world’s best universities in Programming.

This is a practical rather than an academic ranking. It’s the real skills of students that were assessed not scientific publications or university reputation.

They were gauged from the results of University Rankings Competition, a global contest involving over 5500 students from 126 universities. Contest results showed the best university for training IT experts.

ITMO University, located in St. Petersburg, was declared the winner. The university is known for training computer whizkids – ITMO students have already won six prestigious ACM ICPC programming contests.

SPbSU, another university from St. Petersburg, was ranked No.6. The top 10 list of universities also includes universities from India, China, Vietnam, USA, Canada, Ukraine and Sweden.
