Over 60 Foreign Nationals Graduate from MISIS College of Mining

Specialist degrees in mining were awarded at the university graduation ceremony.

National University of Science and Technology MISIS College of Mining turned out some 300 graduates, including more than 100 with an honours degree. Sixty-three come from the CIS states and other countries including Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Congo, Angola, Mali and Swaziland. The most popular majors chosen by applicants were Minerals Processing, Ore and Bedded Deposits Mining, Quarrying, Mine Surveying, Applied Mining Geology, Mine and Underground Construction and Technological Process Safety and Mine Rescue Work. Some students took double degree programmes which MISIS implemented in partnership with Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (Germany). A majority of graduates plan to return to their home countries and work in their profession but some consider PhD studies. The graduation party ended in a laser show and a concert by MISIS performance groups.

MISIS has trained more than 50,000 specialists in mining since 1918. The College of Mining currently offers international prospective students two undergraduate programmes in Power and Electrical Engineering, 16 specialist programmes in Mining, Physical Processes of Mining or Oil and Gas Production, Land Transport and Technological Vehicles, and ten masters programmes in Power and Electrical Engineering, Technological Machines and Equipment, Technosphere Safety, Metallurgy, Computer Science and Engineering and Management.
