President Putin gave an interview to the Bloomberg news agency on the Russky Island prior to the start of the Eastern Economic Forum.

This large-scale event for businessmen and politicians is held on the modern campus of the Far Eastern Federal University.

“We are working now in the Far Eastern Federal University,” said Putin. “I believe you have already noted the scale of this institution – thousands of youngsters from abroad study here, they have numerous foreign lecturers. We would love to see science and higher education flourish here, so that FEFU becomes a research pillar for the whole Asia Pacific region.”

Russian president added that the need for such an institution was obvious given the regional labor market dynamics.

FEFU today is a leading Russian university, a soaring research and education center in the whole Asian region. 40 thousand students are enrolled in 370 Bachelor, Specialist, Master, Postgraduate and Doctorate programs. Education internationalization is an area of particular focus for FEFU.

University’s unique coastal campus was built for APEC Summit 2012. FEFU today is more than a university, it’s a popular international venue for scientific and business communications in Asia Pacific.
