University in Stavropol opens a Russian language club for foreign students

The Russian language club "Marusya" will open for foreign students at North Caucasus Federal University (NCFU) on October 14. In addition to classes in the Russian language, students will attend cultural events, in order to quickly get used to the new country.

The university’s representatives said that "Marusya", the name of the club, was made of the first letters in the sentence "Mom, I love Russian" (“MAma, RUSsky YA lyublyu” in Russian). The goal of the project was to help students from abroad master the spoken Russian language, while the program will also include activities aimed at introducing foreigners to the culture and traditions of Russia.

Among the club’s plans are excursions, as well as visits to the cinema, museums and concerts. Volunteers from NCFU will take part in the project and organize for their peers joint movie watching and discussing. Today, weekly meetings in the club are planned, and their program will be formed taking into account the preferences of the students.
