20 Russian Universities in QS Rankings by Faculty 2019
Britain’s Quacquarelli Symonds experts selected the best world universities in several fields.
The rankings cover Engineering and Technology, Arts and Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Science and Management and Life Sciences and Medicine; each field includes a number of subjects. Thirteen domestic universities were listed for Engineering and Technology. Lomonosov Moscow State University in 57th place led the Russian league, followed by Novosibirsk State University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (182nd and 185th places, respectively). MIPT advanced by more than 50 positions from 2018. ITMO National Research University and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI moved up by more than 100 places in this group from last year.
QS highlighted 13 Russian universities for Natural Sciences; the top 200 included Lomonosov Moscow State University (21st), Novosibirsk State University (68th), MIPT (111th) and MEPhI (165th). Ten Russian universities were ranked for Arts and Humanities. Higher School of Economics moved by 67 positions to 153rd place from 2018. HSE was also in the top 100 for Social Science and Management placing 75th; overall, nine Russian universities were listed in this group. QS Rankings by Faculty 2019 rated Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia for Arts and Humanities and Lobachevsky University for Natural Sciences for the first time.
