Quacquarelli Symonds, a prestigious world university rankings publisher, released a new survey of best universities.

The 2018 list which covers 1,000 universities across 85 countries, ushered in three more Russian universities from last year to a total of 27. Lomonosov Moscow State University at 90th place tops the Russian league and is followed by Saint Petersburg State University (placed 235th) and Novosibirsk State University (244th). Twenty Russian higher education centres improved their last year rankings: Lobachevsky University and Samara University advanced by more than 100 positions, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, ITMO National Research University, Far Eastern Federal University and Ural Federal University moved up 50 or more positions and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Tomsk State University and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI moved up 40 positions. Siberian Federal University and South Ural State University appeared in QS rankings for the first time; they were listed in the 801-1000 bracket.

Quacquarelli Symonds, one of the world’s most trustworthy university rankings, assesses higher education centres by such criteria as teaching, research, internationalisation and graduate employability.
