International Students Commence Their Studies

The first week for overseas students at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.

All departments of RUDN University hold festive matriculation ceremonies at the start of the school year. Traditionally, they are attended by rectors, faculty and celebrity alumni as distinguished guests. They tell greenhorns about University traditions, history and the Code of Honor.

The ceremony is crowned with the ritual of Knowledge Key Handover; the key symbolizes studies and new learning. Most ceremonies are held indoors, but there are some exceptions. For instance, Ecological Department decided to stay closer to nature and held their matriculation ceremony in the woods.

Festivities were followed with the Onboarding Week, designed to introduce newcomers to RUDN University life. Students met the administrators who would oversee their studies, attended lectures on time management and corporate culture, participated in a workshop and a business simulation.

Moreover, every fresher wrote a letter to the future self, which she will unseal upon graduation in 4 years. At the end of the welcome events, students received their IDs and thus former candidates officially became RUDN University students. Congratulations!
