Experts assessed universities founded in 1945 - 1967.

Britain’s Times Higher Education published THE Golden Age Universities Rankings highlighting 271 universities across the world. Russia was represented by seven universities, up four from 2018. Two of them got into the top 100: Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (35th place) and Novosibirsk State University (83rd place). Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia made it into the group 101-150.

THE survey was produced using the same methodology as the World University Rankings. Performance indicators included the learning environment (reputation, staff-to-student ratio, doctorate-to-bachelor’s ratio etc), research (volume and income), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and research) and industry income (knowledge transfer).

Russian universities showed strong presence in other THE rankings released earlier this year. For example, 35 domestic universities were listed in Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019 and 30 in University Impact Rankings which assessed higher education centres by their social and economic impact.
