For the first time Russia and Bulgaria concluded an agreement in the field of medical education.

The I.M.Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Russia, and the Medical University of Varna, Bulgaria, are launching a double-degree programme. The graduates of these universities will receive the certificates of higher education that will be recognized both in Russia and Europe.

Universities have a long history of cooperation. For ten years they have been organizing Olympiads, competitions and exchange programmes. So far over 250 students have participated in the joint internship programmes in Medical Care, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Russian and Bulgarian scholars collaborate on joint research projects.

The Sechenov university works with colleagues from different countries. It has established dual degree programmes with German, Irish and Chinese universities. So, many Master students of the First MSMU get a dual degree.

In general, the university has partnerships with universities from 70 countries, including the USA, Norway, France, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Namibia, Nigeria, Serbia, member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and many others.

Double-degree programmes are becoming more and more widespread in Russia. For example, they are taught at Higher School of Economics, Kazan Federal University, Novosibirsk State University, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Tomsk State University and others.
