Olympiad winners can enrol in master’s programmes without taking entrance exams.

National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University will hold the international Olympiad Proryv (Breakthrough) for Russian-speaking senior undergraduate students and holders of bachelor’s or specialist degree. The olympiad covers 33 engineering fields; each is divided into several specialisation tracks. A prospective student can choose up to three specialisations. The academic competition only has one round which is held at venues in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Candidates are requested to register at the olympiad website by 1 April 2020 and upload a portfolio that includes documented proof of research achievements such as publications in science journals, victories at olympiads, participation in conferences etc. The top scorers will be invited to the onsite round; venue addresses will be posted on the olympiad website later on. The results will be announced on 18 May 2020. Winners from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Belarus are entitled to TPU graduate scholarships; winners from other countries can be admitted to self-funded programmes without taking entrance examinations.
