UrFU will open a center of Russian in Cairo

Citizens of Egypt will be able to effectively prepare for studying in Russian universities.

Ural Federal University and the agency ‘Media Arab for Media Production and Marketing’ are opening a Russian language center in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The Center will give Egyptians an opportunity to take courses in Russian, which will help graduates of Egyptian schools to participate in the selection for admission to Russian universities.

The initiative to open a Russian language center in Egypt belongs to the preparatory department for foreign students at UrFU, which annually receives hundreds of Arab students. Interest in the Russian language is growing yearly. This is partly due to the fact that Russian is one of the most common languages in the world, it ranks 6-th in terms of the number of speakers. Today Russian is spoken by 146 million citizens of the Russian Federation and another 127 million people abroad.

The center is to open in September 2021 and it will also host cultural events and become the place where students and visitors can get to know Russian culture better. The courses will be taught by highly experienced teachers of the preparatory department for foreign students of Ural Federal University. At the moment, the capacity of the center is 150 students. In the near future, similar centers will also be opened in other cities, where there is a high demand for studying the Russian language.
