International prospective students can apply for state-funded or self-funded places.

Non-resident applicants can take specialty and foreign language proficiency examinations in Russian or English online. Also, a PhD candidate is expected to present a portfolio of their research projects.

Higher School of Economics offers 40 scholarships to postgraduates in 2018 academic year. Quota (Russian government scholarship) applicants submit documents from 1 February till 31 March 2018. Self-funded students can initially apply from 1 December through 15 March 2018. Submit documents and take entrance exams now, even if you finish your graduate studies in 2018. You can show your master’s diploma in May when the university has listed the students recommended for admission. The 2nd intake for self-funded students will run from 1 August through 14 September 2018. Visit HSE website to apply.
