International Olympiad Open Doors: Registration Open

Olympiad winners and runners up are entitled to free tuition on graduate programmes at a Russian university.  

The Olympiad Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project 2018 is held by leading Russian universities such as ITMO National Research University, Higher School of Economics, National Research Tomsk State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Novosibirsk State University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Ural Federal University, Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, University of Tyumen and Far Eastern Federal University. Bachelor’s degree holders or undergraduate students in their final year from any country except Russia are welcome to take part in the competition. The Olympiad currently covers ten fields compared with four in 2017. They are mathematics, computer science, physics, biology, chemistry, philology, political science, business, business and management, psychology and economy. The Olympiad languages are Russian and English.

It is a two-tier online academic competition. A participant has to register at the Open Doors website and fill out the portfolio field by January 31, 2019. Research papers, certificates and other achievements in the chosen fields are taken into account. The names of the prospective students admitted to the final round will be published on February 15. The finals are online tests which will run from February 18 till March 7. The results will be published on March 25. Winners and runners up are admitted to a master’s programme at one of 500 Russian universities as Russian government scholarship students. Documents can be submitted to several universities simultaneously. The chosen field of study should match the Olympiad field. Both Russian and English-medium instruction is possible, but the student has to confirm their proficiency in accordance with the chosen university’s rules. Prospective students who wish to enrol in a Russian-taught programme but dot no know Russian well enough, will be admitted to the Preparatory Department.
