ITMO University Students Win World Programming Contest

ITMO team won gold for the seventh consecutive time, with a strong showing by other Russian universities.

Young programmers from more than 100 universities all over the world took part in the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) which ended in South Dakota, USA on 25 May. Russia was represented by 13 universities. The ITMO Unversity team from St Petersburg found the quickest and best answers to ten out of 12 tasks.

This secured victory and the seventh ACM ICPC Cup for the young Russian programmers. Under ICPC rules, gold medals are awarded both to the leaders and the teams placed first through fourth. The team from the University of Warsaw finished second. The Seoul National University was third. The team from the St. Petersburg University (SPbPU) finished fourth. 

Silver medals were awarded to the teams placed fifth through eighth. This group included Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). Ural Federal University was in the group placed ninth through twelfth winning bronze.
