More than 60 students from the region took part in the festival.

National Research Lobachevsky State University international students represented Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Bolivia and Salvador at the festival of Latin American culture. They arranged a display of national symbols and costumes, presented national dishes and read thematic lectures. The students offered everybody to learn the basics of Spanish, Portuguese and Nahuatl or Aztec currently spoken in Central Mexico, and led master classes in making traditional Mexican hand-woven bracelets, drawing the national Colombian pattern and dancing salsa. The students walked with their national flags as the evening show began: they performed songs and dances and recited poems; at the close, they banded together to sing Polina Gagarina’s A Million Voices in Russian.

Located in Nizhny Novgorod, Lobachevsky University is one of Russia’s classic universities providing training to students from South and North America, Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
