MarSU medical education is recognized in Canada and the USA

Graduates of the Medical Institute of Mari State University (MarSU) can continue their professional activity in the United States of America and Canada.

The World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), which developed the World Directory of Medical Schools, have made the decision that MarSU’s higher education diplomas (starting with diplomas received in 2020) shall be recognized by the US Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and by Canada’s territorial healthcare authorities. This will allow graduates to apply for the ECFMG exams to get the United States medical license, and also to work in Canadian medical institutions.

For medical education both in the Republic of Mari El and Russia, and in the world as a whole, this is a significant achievement, confirming the positive image of the Medical Institute of MarSU in the international medical community. For MarSU, this is also another step in the implementation of its “Door into the World” concept that gives graduates unique new opportunities – to continue their education, live and work around the world, wherever they are in demand.

Rector of MarSU Mikhail Shvetsov: “Currently, 2,300 students from 43 countries of the world are studying at MarSU. They trust us, because we have a lot to offer: high quality education, a comfortable social environment and good career prospects. Now MarSU is actively forming its “English space”, an English-speaking environment, which will bring us to a new level of international communication between the university’s academics and students.”
