This year, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology organised the International Distributed Physics Olympiad 2020 (IPhO - International Distributed Physics Olympiad) for the first time.

MIPT students, part of the Russian national team, took first place in the team competition, sharing it with the Chine team. Russian students also earned gold in the individual competition. All in all 17 gold, 38 silver and 48 bronze medals we awarded to teams from 41 countries.

International distributed Physics Olympiad 2020 was held at the MIPT location in a mixed online/offline format with the support of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Government.

The Physics Olympiad was organized in record time and replaced the international competition IPhO - 2020/21, which was cancelled in Vilnius due to pandemic restrictions. The competition consisted of two stages – theoretical and experimental. Each lasted 5 hours.

MIPT regularly participates in the most prestigious intellectual competitions in the world due to the high level of students’ education in physics, mathematics, IT and related disciplines.
