Prospective Students from India Choose FEFU
The number of Indian students on FEFU medical programmes increased in 2018.
The programme General Medicine launched by the Far Eastern Federal University School of Biomedicine in 2016 has been increasingly popular with Indian applicants. This year, 120 Indian nationals were admitted to the programme compared with 38 in 2016 and 113 in 2017. Consequently, the number of Indians studying General Medicine in the academic year 2018/2019 has reached over 270.
The programme’s length of study is six years. Students learn some 60 profession-oriented disciplines including anatomy, biology, chemistry, pathology, histology, surgery, internal disease basics and Latin. Mandatory internship is taken at the university’s simulation centre where students are trained to diagnose a patient, make injections, dress wounds, resuscitate and provide first aid. After the second year, interns are placed at FEFU Medical Centre and Medical Association of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Far Eastern Federal University provides basic medical education; it is one of the reasons that make the programme popular with prospective Indian students. The university degree is recognised by the Medical Council of India, so FEFU graduates can begin their careers immediately upon returning to their homeland.
