Record-breaking HSE admissions campaign-2020

2020 was an incredibly successful year for the Higher School of Economics: more than 2,000 international students enrolled at the university, which is 11% more than in 2019.

The interest of applicants from all over the world in getting an education at HSE has noticeably increased. And that was already obvious during the admissions campaign. The campuses in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm and Nizhny Novgorod now have 2,214 new bachelor and master students from 156 countries.

Future HSE alumni come from all over the world: from the CIS, Asia and Eastern Europe, Latin and North America, Africa, the Middle East and even Australia and Oceania.

Their choice of educational programmes is also very diverse. The most popular among bachelor applicants were "International Relations", "Design", "Economics", "Business Management". Among the master's programmes, the most attractive became "International Relations: European and Asian Studies" and "Business Development Strategies: Management and Consulting" in Russian, and "Strategic Firm Financial Management", "Data Science", "Russian Studies" in English.

Such an amazing result became possible thanks to the new HSE admission campaign workflow. In spring, the majority of the university events moved online. The staff connected with each applicant and offered special webinar programmes. Additional digital projects were created using university social channels and admissions.ru. Applicants were able to take preliminary tests and all entrance exams online. This experience became an excellent basis for further university operations. Due to a difficult epidemiological situation, many students were unable to come to Russia. They have already begun to study remotely, and from October 26 the university plans to transfer all lectures online.
