Russian University Recognised as One of the Most Beautiful in Europe

Lomonosov Moscow State University’s main building made it to the top ten of the most impressive structures.

Times Higher Education, a prestigious rating agency released the list of the most spectacular university buildings in Europe. Lomonosov Moscow State University is in the top 10. MSU main building was erected in 1953; the construction lasted five years. Lev Rudnev was design supervisor while solutions for the foundation and frame of the building were offered by Nikolai Nikitin, Ostankino Television Tower chief architect. The 240-meter tall building is crowned by a five-pointed star framed by ears of wheat glittering brightly on sunny days thanks to their coating of aluminium and yellow glass. The observation deck is on the 32nd floor opens a beautiful view of Moscow.

Many Russian universities are accommodated in eye-catching buildings, historical and classic-style, such as Kazan Federal University, one of the oldest in Russia. KFU and its three arcades were built in the 1820s. Later on, the University's architectural ensemble was completed with the addition of an anatomy theatre, a chemistry laboratory, library, an astronomical laboratory and a hospital. National Research Tomsk State University and Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI” buildings were put up in the same period.

There are younger universities built in the beginning of the 2000s such as Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Siberian Federal University, Novosibirsk State University and Far Eastern Federal University. Located on Russky Island in Vladivostok, FEFU is one of the most modern universities in Russia. Aside from teaching blocks and 4 star comfort residence halls, its campus facilities include a technopark, an oceanarium, stadiums, and a large park.
