MEPhI held an international festival.

National Research Nuclear University MEPhI Obninsk hosted an international student festival for the fifth time bringing together more than 400 students from 50 countries across the world. This year, the festival timed with the 65th anniversary of the Obninsk nuclear power plant, the world’s first NPP. The event started as international students met with Rosatom corporation representatives who provided information on MEPhI students employment opportunities in the nuclear power industry. The visiting ambassadors of Jordan, Zambia, Turkey and Vietnam addressed festival guests.

Entertainment was delivered at the Palace of Culture of Obninsk Institute of Physics and Power Engineering. International students dished up food, offered everybody to sample their national dishes and talked about the culture and customs of their countries. In the evening, the students held a flag parade which had already become a tradition. The festival ended with a MEPhI international students’ song and dance show.

National Research Nuclear University was founded in 1942. It has trained six Nobel Prize laureates. MEPhI is in the 51-100 group of the QS Ranking by Subject for physics and astronomy, and in the 101-150 group of the ARWU Ranking by Subject for physics.
